With panoramic views like Kauri Cliffs, Gulf Harbour Country Club sits prettily on the northern surrounds of Auckland – you can even ferry there from the city. This top-ranked golf course has some serious claim to fame, too, hosting the 1998 World Cup of Golf and designed by world-renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. It’s even been tapped as a firm favourite for New Zealand superstar Lydia Ko.
Rolling hillside offers plenty of challenges for golfers, who can practise at the on-site driving range. The legendary 16th hole is a tough one to crack, but you’ll be rewarded with incredible views across Shakespear Regional Park and the glittering harbour. Be sure to enjoy a glass of wine or beer at Ferntinental Café, which overlooks the 18th fairway and features an all-day menu – the 'Mighty Beer Burger' is worth the hype.
Getting there Te huarahi ki reira
