Name
Highwic, Epsom
Highwic is one of New Zealand's finest timber Gothic houses, built in 1862 as Alfred Buckland's family home. An English immigrant who thrived in this land of new opportunities, Buckland's wealth and social status is evident in the property's grand design.
A self-guided tour allows you to wander at your leisure through the lovely colonial home and to explore the 4 star Garden of Significance, with its romantic Lover’s Walk, providing a haven from the bustle of nearby Newmarket.
Time your visit for the regular occasions when the coal range is fired up, and check the Events page for other special events throughout the year. Highwic is available as an atmospheric venue for private functions; weddings, birthdays, and business meetings.
