The NZSO wraps up the 2023 season with superstar Anne-Sophie Mutter and the music of John Williams, one of the twentieth century’s most entertaining and influential composers. In this concert, we celebrate Williams’ monumental contribution to the film music repertoire.
Williams retains also built a collection of purely orchestral, standalone works. The most recent is the Second Violin Concerto, performed by Grammy Award winning dedicatee Anne-Sophie Mutter, brings her “astonishing clarity, strength and tonal polish” (Sydney Morning Herald) to not only Williams’s Concerto but also to special arrangements of Williams’s film scores, devised especially to showcase Mutter’s once-in-a-lifetime talent.
