Caring for Carnivores at Auckland Zoo this July School Holidays

When you get to the Zoo, grab an activity sheet and search to see what carnivores you can find. You’ll put on your ‘keeper hat’ to understand how each species is cared for, based on the 5 domains of animal welfare model that covers an animal’s diet, habitat and wellbeing. 

Did you know that Asian small-clawed otters naturally hunt for their food in water? The Zoo’s skilled keepers will pop their food inside a pipe and submerge it to bring out these natural behaviours.  

Cosy undercover venue The Domes will be open throughout the holiday period - with building blocks, puzzles, a reading corner and some tiger colouring-in!
