As Auckland celebrates the first day of City Rail Link services, some of Aotearoa's most beloved and exciting artists will perform throughout the day, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the heart of the city. Featuring an incredible lineup from Julia Deans, OkOk, Love Square, DJ Hudge and Jubilation Choir, the programme invites visitors to stop for a coffee, grab lunch, pull up a seat and soak up the sounds of the city.

Whether you're passing through or meeting friends, Live at The Terrace offers the perfect opportunity to pause, connect and experience Auckland alive with music.

Performances run from 10am to 5pm. No booking or ticket needed!

Go before the show! The Terrace opens 90 minutes before all performances at Aotea Centre. A selection of locally brewed craft beer available - grab a beer paddle & shoestring fries for $19.

The Terrace is located in the heart of Auckland City at the main entrance of New Zealand's leading performance arts venue, Aotea Centre. Overlooking the Aotea Square, The Terrace is an excellent spot to sit back, relax and enjoy good food and great vibes.

About the Artists

Julia Deans

Beginning her career as the sassy and beguiling frontwoman for Fur Patrol, Julia has cemented her place as one of Aotearoa’s most celebrated musicians. Following the early success of 00’s Fur Patrol and their platinum-selling album Pet, Julia’s solo albums Modern Fables (2010) and We Light Fire (2018) have been embraced with critical acclaim, earning nominations for coveted NZ musical accolades the Taite Music Prize, the APRA SilverScroll, and the NZ Music Awards. But it’s not just rock n roll. As an engaged, charismatic and artistic collaborator Deans has been involved with a string of musical projects over the years including collaborations with various NZ musical luminaries, including Tami Neilson, Neil Finn, and Tiki Taane. From performing in an impressive array of arts festival shows, to musical theatre, to orchestras and even opera, Deans has proved she is never shy to add another string to her bow.

DJ Hudge

The man has a long standing love affair with music. His reputation as a hiphop dj is now surpassed by his ability to skilfully cut, mix and blend through genres that excite him (house, nu:jazz, roots, Brazilian, funk, grime and of course hiphop) to always turn the party out! After leaving LDN in 2012, Hudge quickly established himself as a prime mover in Auckland’s music scene. With a 7 year stint on George FM (The Uptown Boogie) he then moved over to Auckland’s 95bFM where he hosts Mass Appeal (Sundays 10-12). Name drops - Tour DJ for the following: Blak Twang, Che Fu, Children of Zeus, Guilty Simpson, Cormega and London Possse legend Rodney P, alongside heavy hitters Mr Scruff, Norman Jay, The Nextmen, Raekwon, Sir David Rodigan, Mos Def, DJ Vadim, DJ Premier, Slick Rick, Mr Thing, local legends Frank Booker, Nathan Haines, Julien Dyne, Manuel Bundy, Submariner, Cian, P-Money and Tom Scott - June 23 opened up for Wu Tang/Nas at The O2 Arena LDN. OkOk

OkOk is an instrumental group from Aotearoa comprised of Abraham Kunin, Adam Fuhr, Chip Matthews, and Tom Broome. The quartet have worked together extensively as the rhythm section of NZ hip hop legends Home Brew. As OkOk, they focus on original compositions and reworked covers, leaning into a sound that sits at the intersection of modern jazz and beat-focused music, brought to life through guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, saxophone, and vocoder.

Love Square

Come on a musical journey from Africa to Aotearoa via the Caribbean! Saxophonist Nick Atkinson brings the trumpet and keys of Finn Scholes together with the fine drumming of Alistair Deverick to present a trio filled to bursting with grooves and beats from around the world, cooked up into an antipodean musical boilup. Hear the horns parp while the pianos rumble!
