Brahms’ enormous concerto is one of the most taxing challenges for a pianist, requiring deep artistry and deep reserves of sheer stamina. Acclaimed pianist, Alexander Melnikov is well-equipped for the challenge and making a welcome return to the Auckland Town Hall stage.
Giordano Bellincampi takes us through Brahms’ most amiable and relaxed symphony. He composed it during a summer holiday in the magnificent Austrian Alps, and there’s no doubt this influenced the generosity of spirit in this tender, glowing music.
Please note: Alexander Melnikov replaces the previously advertised Marie-Ange Nguci who has withdrawn from the concert due to scheduling complications
