Ruaruawhetū – Weaving Design Celebrating the Stars

Coming from across the motu, the artists will share their knowledge of raranga through an artists’ talk and a series of weaving workshops. Within the exhibition, visitors are invited to experience different weaving patterns related to and embracing the nine stars of Matariki, and share in this mātauranga Māori.

The exhibition is curated by Terehia Walker, an upcoming raranga artist of Ngāpuhi, Tainui and Te Ātiawa descent, with her husband, Ngahiwi Walker, as the supporting cultural adviser/kaumātua and whakairo artist.
