Hāngi Master

Hāngi has been cooked in Tāmaki Makaurau since the antiquity, it’s special version in this location uses the heatwaves provided by our local Volcanic deity, Mataohooho. Hāngi Master provides an authentic earth oven food cooked in the ground providing Hāngi for all.   

Rewi Spraggon set up Hāngi Master to bring traditional Hāngi back to mainstream Aotearoa. He was taught this ancient tradition by his father who was taught by his mum’s father and ancestors before — Hāngi Masters of the past. Some of the rocks he still uses today have been in his family for generations and have fed thousands of people.
