“Get a tasting paddle of craft beers at Hallertau Brewbar and Restaurant in Riverhead. They have a microbrewery onsite and the beer garden is a great place for a bite to eat, especially on a sunny Sunday.”
Sir John Kirwan
Kumeu is full of great places to eat. Check out The Tasting Shed for fine dining featuring fresh produce, Hallertau brewery and restaurant (the outdoor covered beer garden is great on a warm day), or The Riverhead, a historic tavern overlooking a tranquil estuary.
Heading to Muriwai Beach? Stop in at Boric Food Market on the way and pick up fresh supplies for a picnic. Boric’s produce is grown in their own onsite orchards and gardens, and there’s a good range of delicatessen options for lunch (as well as wine, craft beer and quality seafood and meats if you need dinner sorted too).
If you’re on the way to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park for a day at the beach or a rainforest walk, stop for coffee, breakfast or lunch at Titirangi Village. Choose from the cluster of cool cafés, including Deco in the historic Lopdell House, next to Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery, and iTi Eatery for a meal overlooking the treetops.
