What is Team AKL and why should I join?
Team AKL is the volunteer group that helps at our major events. Becoming part of Team AKL gives you the chance to be right in the heart of what’s happening in Auckland. You’ll meet new people, be at the centre of action at these great events, and help make our city a great place to live, work, study and visit.
What do Team AKL volunteers do?
Team AKL volunteers work across a range of jobs, from being festival ambassadors, providing event information and assisting with workshops, to managing the lost children tents.
How much time do I need to give?
The time commitment is very flexible. Some volunteers might work one four-hour shift during an event, while others may work multiple shifts on each day of the event, as their time allows. It’s up to you how much time you’re able to and want to give.

* Volunteering for other events is handled by event promoters. Information about other events happening and how to volunteer for them is available at VolunteerNet.
To join Team AKL, register at VolunteerNet and you’ll be able to select which events you’d like to volunteer for or get more information about. You’ll also get notifications about events as they’re listed, with the opportunity to apply for specific positions and view the position descriptions.
Once you’ve applied, we’ll carry out the required Ministry of Justice checks before the event, and will invite you to a pre-event volunteer briefing.
