What is Team AKL and why should I join?

Team AKL is the volunteer group for major events run by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED).

Becoming part of Team AKL gives you a chance to be at the heart of what’s going on in Auckland – meet new people, be at the centre of action at these great events, and help make Auckland a great place to live, work, study and visit.

If you’re enthusiastic and passionate about exciting events and everything Auckland, we would like to hear from you.

What do Team AKL volunteers do?

Team AKL volunteers work across a range of jobs, from being festival ambassadors, providing event information and assisting with workshops, to assisting back stage or at busy street performance areas.

How much time do I need to give?

The time commitment is flexible. Some volunteers might work one four-hour shift during an event, while others might work multiple shifts on every day of the event, as their time allows.

What events could I volunteer at?

We need volunteers for Auckland’s major cultural festivals including the Auckland Diwali, Lantern, Pasifika and Tamaki Herenga Waka Festivals, and other activities to support Auckland’s annual calendar of major events.

What happens once I sign up to volunteer?

Once you have applied, we will email you the link to the Ministry of Justice third party check we require for all volunteers.

Then we will keep you updated by email about the different events, volunteer shifts and other information. You will be able to select which events and which roles you would like to volunteer for.

You will also need to attend a volunteer briefing before each event you work on.
