Heard a lot about this place so decided to try it out. Food was very average! I got the chicken salad sandwich which the waiter told me was the most popular. $16.50 for a sandwich so I expected a lot. It was literally just bread, roast chicken with lettuce and gravy on the side. Nothing spectacular or memorable. Got some cakes for dessert which were much better than the food. Would come back for dessert but not so much the food. 3/5 as the cakes were decent. Other wise would of probably been a 2/5.
The only thing you need to know is that they serve the best New York Baked cheesecake. Having been to many restaurants/cafes, even the “popular” Cheesecake Factory in the U.S. The Fed’s cheesecake has the perfect balance of creaminess/sweetness without being overly sugary, and it’s so beautifully dense unlike other places that just fall apart. Also, the biscuit base is yum!! Banana toffee slice is also super nice 8/10 Lemon meringue is a little bit tarte 6.5/10
They always have amazing food here. I recommend the poutine and the fish, the flavors and textures are delicious! If you have room for dessert, try their New York cheese cake is amazing!
