Auckland Society of Discovery – Win a Short Break to Auckland


Tātaki Auckland Unlimited welcomes entries to the “Join the Auckland Society of Discovery – Win a Short Break to Auckland” competition (the “Competition”). By entering this Competition, entrants are deemed to have read, understood, and accepted these terms and conditions. 


A. Competition 

  1. To enter, entrants must submit an entry via aucklandnz.com/society-of-discovery, providing their:
    • Full Name
    • Email Address
  2. The Competition commences on 8 September 2025 at 12:00 am and ends on 28 October 2025 at 12:00 am. Entries received after this time will not be accepted. All entries are deemed received at the time of receipt by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited and not at time of transmission by the entrant. Late, misdirected, incomplete, or illegible entries are invalid. Tātaki Auckland Unlimited is not responsible for such entries or for any error, technical malfunction, loss, omission, communications delay, or failure.
  3. Every entrant warrants that all information submitted is true, current, and complete. Tātaki Auckland Unlimited reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who does not comply with these terms and conditions.
  4. Entry is only open to Australian residents aged 18 years or older.
  5. The Promoter is Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, Level 23/24, 135 Albert Street, Auckland1010.


B. Entries, selection and Prize draw 

  1. Entrants can only enter the Competition once. Only one entry per person will be counted. 
  2. The Prize Winner will be randomly selected using an electronic draw system, supervised to ensure fairness, between 28 and 31 October 2025. 
  3. The Prize Winner will be notified by email between 3 and 7 November 2025.
  4. The Prize Winner’s name will be published on the campaign page between 10 and 14 November 2025.
  5. If the Prize Winner does not contact Tātaki Auckland Unlimited within 7 days of notification, or cannot be contacted within that period, Tātaki Auckland Unlimited reserves the right to draw another winner.
  6. If the Prize Winner accepts the Prize, the Prize-win and acceptance of these terms and conditions will be documented in an email to that Prize Winner. 
  1. If the Prize Winner declines the Prize, the Prize is immediately forfeited, and Tātaki Auckland Unlimited may redraw the winner.
  2. The Prize will be awarded to the holder of the email address from which the entry was submitted. Tātaki Auckland Unlimited takes no responsibility for disputes resulting from entries submitted using another person’s email address.
  3. Tātaki Auckland Unlimited’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.


C. Prize 

  1. The Prize consists of a short-break package for two people, including:
    • Two nights at M Social Auckland (AUD$800)
    • One night at Pullman Auckland Airport for two people (AUD$400); valid for 12 months, subject to availability, blackout dates may apply, must be booked in advance
    • Return flights for two people from Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane, up to AUD$700 per person (AUD$1,400 total)
    • Two Auckland Transport HOP cards, each pre-loaded with AUD$100 (AUD$200 total)
      Total prize value: AUD$2,800.
  2. The Prize cannot be exchanged for cash, credit, or service, is not transferable to any other person, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
  3. The winner is responsible for paying all additional costs not specified above, including travel insurance, meals, onground expenses, and incidentals.
  4. Flights and accommodation must be booked between 17 November and 5 December 2025. Travel must be undertaken between 16 February and 30 June 2026, excluding blackout dates: 14–15 February 19–21 February 19–21 May, Easter 2026, and all New Zealand public holidays.
  5. If any part of the Prize becomes unavailable for any reason, Tātaki Auckland Unlimited reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to either substitute a similar prize of equal or greater value or cancel the Prize and/or the Competition entirely.


D. Privacy 

  1. Entry into this Competition constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  2. Upon accepting the Prize, the Prize Winner’s first and last names may be used in Tātaki Auckland Unlimited communications, including email newsletters, media, and social platforms, for promotional purposes.
  3. The Prize Winner consents to participate in promotional activities, including being photographed or filmed during the Prize redemption for use in Tātaki Auckland Unlimited promotional channels.
  4. Tātaki Auckland Unlimited collects personal information to conduct the Competition, notify and verify the winner. Individuals may access or request correction of their personal information via [email protected], in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Australia) and Tātaki Auckland Unlimited’s privacy policy.


E. Exclusions & Liability

  1. Employees and their immediate family members of Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, Auckland Council, or agencies associated with this Competition are not eligible to enter.
  2. Tātaki Auckland Unlimited reserves the right to disqualify any entrant for breach of these terms, fraudulent activity, or unfair advantage.
  3. Except for liability that cannot be excluded by law, Tātaki Auckland Unlimited takes no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury in connection with the Competition or Prize.
  4. Tātaki Auckland Unlimited may modify, suspend, or cancel this Competition or the Prize at any time, including due to external circumstances such as travel restrictions or pandemics.
  5. These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and any disputes will be subject to the nonexclusive jurisdiction of New Zealand courts. 
  6. All entry records and draw logs will be retained internally via Tātaki Auckland Unlimited’s CRM system for a minimum of 3 years. Keeping data securely stored in Kentico (CMS for Discover Auckland).
