Aotea Square and City Wide
From Tuesday 17 February to Tuesday 3 March, the city will burst into life with colour, music, and flavour, creating a vibrant celebration with traditional and contemporary Asian-Aotearoa culture.
Strike a pose with Xin Xin, the giant Lucky Cat in Aotea Square, while you get amongst the Summer in the Square celebrations then visit the glowing red neon Lucky Cats down Darby Street and discover bold, colourful art at Te Komititanga light box exhibition.
Feeling hungry? Duck into one of the city centre’s array of amazing restaurants for tasty Asian flavours and make the most of the special restaurant offers up for grabs!
Bring the whānau to Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, Ellen Melville Centre and Auckland Central Library for lion dancing, K-pop workshops, lantern-making and more creative fun – perfect to keep the kids entertained!
Plus, don’t miss Lunar on Lorne, a street party that’ll transform Te Hā o Hine (Khartoum Place) into a buzzing celebration of contemporary Asian-Aotearoa culture, with music, street dance battles, and plenty of Instagram-worthy moments.
This city centre celebration brings together Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, Ellen Melville Centre, Auckland Central Library, Heart of the City, SkyCity, Britomart and community partners under one vibrant festival that reflects the diversity of our city.

Getting there

Start the celebrations in Aotea Square, located in the city centre, a 15-minute walk from Waitematā Station. If you’re driving, affordable parking can be found in the Civic Car Park, directly beneath the square.
