Thaapi | 100 Years of Unity Through Sport

A brand-new Punjabi release, Thaapi follows a girls' kabaddi team as they take on a formidable wrestling family, a story of grit, teamwork and women in sport.

This is a Saturday afternoon family matinee in the city centre. It is one of a series of free Indian sports film screenings across Auckland through November, each matched to the sport being played in the city that week.

Part of Auckland's Host City celebration of 100 Years of Unity Through Sport, brought to you by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited and Sport New Zealand, with Forum Films and Event Cinemas.

• Entry is free but registration is essential. Seats are first in, first served, with a limit of 4 per registration.
• Show your ticket on your phone at the door.
• Unclaimed seats are released to walk-ups from 3:50pm.
• Runtime to be confirmed. Punjabi with English subtitles. Classification to be confirmed.
• The screening is in Cinema 1. Event Cinemas Queen Street is on Level 3 of the Metro Centre, 291–297 Queen Street, Auckland CBD. Public transport is close by.
• The cinema candy bar is open.
