South and East Auckland kindergartens and primary schools have been challenged to create art around the theme: Act Local – What's in your backyard?
Making use of sustainable and re-purposed materials, the artworks explore how to care for te taiao (the environment) and the animals, plants, and insects around us.
The winning schools and kindergartens will be awarded cash prizes and art supply vouchers, with a total prize pool worth $2,550. Be sure to vote in the People’s Choice category for your favourite piece of art!
Run by the Beautification Trust, Eye on Nature Creative Arts is all about teaching tamariki to love the environment and live more sustainably in a fun, creative and hands-on way. The exhibition will be on display in the Auckland Botanic Gardens’ Gallery space in the heart of Manurewa throughout the Term 3 School Holidays.
