Time to venture a little further, off out the window and into the wide world. And wow what a world! A wondrous, wacky and wildly overwhelming world far from the comforts of home. Challenges come thick and fast from all directions and it’s only a matter of time before it all becomes too much for our adventurers. They know how to start a Tantrum, but do they know how to stop one?
Java Dance Theatre brings you their signature style of interactive dance, theatre and live music.
Inspired by labyrinths, make believe and the games you make up in your lounge, The Tantrum is a treat for the imagination and a little relief for anyone who has ever thrown their toys.
The Tantrum uses music, dance and the imagination to tackle big, difficult, unruly, sticky, hard-to-figure-out, emotions.
Getting there Te huarahi ki reira
The Aotea Centre is a short walk up Queen Street from Britomart station, and the Civic car park is conveniently located beside the venue if you’re driving.
Local tip He tīwhiri mō te rohe
Check out the sculpture of celebrated Kiwi opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa which sits on Level 3 of the Aotea Centre. It was created by local artist Terry Stringer and unveiled by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa herself when the auditorium was named in her honour in 2019.
