Oh Puhoi! This famous cafe proves why it is on most people's wish list - their award-winning cheeses are beyond spectacular! I personally love the triple cream brei that I opt for my Mediterranean Platter. And to finish off is a combination of peanut butter and hokey pokey ice cream for dessert 🍨 🏆.
Love the cheese and icecream! Award winning! 🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀
We arrived when the oven was closed, so decided to get two single cheese platters. You can choose three different kinds of cheese that you want to have included. Feel like the single platter could be shared between two people. Plenty of cheese and snacks to eat. The area is absolutely beautiful with nature. Would definitely go again.
Great quality cheese! The gelato ice cream is divine!!! Hot chocolate was a winner! Definitely worth the drive as the place is picturesque too!
This place is superb. The store has a great range of cheeses you can take away and all at very good prices since coming straight from the source. We got a medium ploughman's platter which was massive... enough for 4-5 people I reckon. Had brie, triple Brie and a cheddar all were amazing. The platter also came with a great amount of crusty bread and cold cuts such as ham and pastrami... all this while sitting out on the deck in the sun overlooking the grounds. The Salted Caramel Puhoi milk is also the best flavoured milk you will try anywhere in the world... big call but it's true.
You gotta try out chai latte ice cream which is marvellous! its tasty is alike chai latte drinks. We all like it! I don't like cheese so I ordered chef special pie which is so crispy! And the beef paste is yummy! I have recommended few friends, they also like chai latte ice cream!
This place is amazing! We went midweek with some people who were visiting Auckland. The cafe is gorgeous and sitting on the deck in the winter sun, watching the fountain and eating cheese is my kind of perfect afternoon! The staff were all lovely and helpful and we were very surprised and pleased with how generous the tasting portions of cheese were as well as how knowledgable the staff were about each cheese. We never felt pressure to purchase anything despite consuming about a kilo of free tastings! (Although we did walk away with another kilo of cheese to eat at home haha) make sure you leave room for an ice cream cone as well - delicious! Would definitely recommend a visit and I will be back!
A nice little destination cafe great for an afternoon drive. The cafe has a large playground for children, big outdoor deck and plenty of inside seating. You can order cabinet food, cooked to order, cheese platters, and gelato. There's also puhoi cheese and milk available to buy. You can watch the cheesemongers at work through the glass windows. I had the bacon and cheese toast is was everything crispy and cheesy that you could want. Finished off with a scoop of gelato was the perfect end to the afternoon.
Big ups for this place absolutely loved it. Me and a few mates stopped in for a quick geez ended up leaving with two wheels of cheese each. And a fancy new chopping board Awesome prices for the the cheese Awesome outdoor area great for kiddies Awesome staff too
Went there to celebrate a friend's birthday not expecting to find anything to eat as I am gluten & dairy intolerant.I was pleasantly surprised!Staff were helpful & although there was only one savoury item I could have it was delicious-a g/f toastie with salami instead of ham or bacon. The filling was generous: pineapple, caramelized onion & tomato.Yum!There was a securely fenced play area for children & a wonderful setting.A lovely afternoon.
Puhoi cafe is worth the drive up from auckland. Great set up with lots of seats. The cheeseboards are pretty good portion and prices compared to other vineyards. Plus you can taste test before choosing 3 cheeses for your platter. The ice cream on the other hand was quite disappointing. The flavours and texture not very good.
Last time I visited I remember the food being more pleasant Today the menu seemed off and it was very average Service was good and vibes are always nice here though The egg salad was drowned in ranch sauce and ham was over cooked But the toastie was good Egg benedict was so so Next time we feel like a drive will come for icecream
A horrible, humiliating experience - My friends and I had lunch at Puhoi Valley Cafe & Cheese Store today to celebrate my birthday and we had a most horrible experience. After waiting for almost an hour for our food, my friends' 4-year old son began to complain of hunger so my friends decided to give him some biscuits which they always carry in the car for the young child. As we continued to wait for our food, one of the cafe's attendants passed by and noticed the biscuit packet. The attendant then pointed her finger at us and shouted in an angry voice, "Bringing food here is not allowed!" I explained that the little boy was very hungry as the food was taking so long. To this the attendant replied, "I don't care. Food is NOT allowed. It is like bringing beer into a pub!" The people around us looked at us because the attendant was very loud and angry. We felt so humiliated and demeaned. It was just horrible.
Thought we'd go for a cruise to see what was there.., a full car park, this place is popular. So we grabbed a table while we could and headed to the counter to order, food was out in good time, waited in the line longer, good size servings, coffee was above average and desserts were fresh and tasty.Even got cheese tasting going on, so we snaffled up some of that for home. Set on a nice lake backdrop with kiddie playground and also wheelchair accessible. Really good layout. We'll be back,
Just stopped by here for a drink and to get some cheese. Not much variety of drinks if you are not into coffee. Cheese was good however service was not good as majority of he servers seemed rushed, stressed and overworked. Had to wait half and hour just to get a couple of coffees and juice. It was busy but it shouldn't take that long! Bit of a let down. Would not visit again.
Puhoi Cheese Puhoi Ice Cream Puhoi milk Hard to fault any of the above. Distinctive, creative, delicious and classy. This place can be quite busy at times but all for very good reasons. Accommodated by a sense of security and relaxation, the food here is top notch. Pricing is not their strength but for the quality, it is definately worth the money. Must try their cheese platters. I chose the Ploughmans platter which came with meats, bread and sides along with your choice of three cheeses. The 7 year aged cheddar and the triple cream Brie is absolutely amazing. To finish it off, try one of their amazing ranges of ice cream to cool down that summer heat! Take your family and friends and enjoy a relaxing time out! I highly recommend this place!
Lovely outdoor area, umbrellas kept the sun off. Coffee: I had a macchiato. It had way too much froth and the shot was a little burnt. Food: I had a bacon eggs benedict (as per usual). It was on a bagel. The bagel was fresh and tasty, also probably the best part of the dish. There was good volume of hollandaise, however it was a little watery and very sour. Not a super nice flavour. The bacon was tasty but I felt like it was batch cooked rather than cooked for us. There was too much spinach and it was over cooked. Service: nothing wrong with the service, probably just lacked a bit of personality. No smiles or anything extra, the job just got done. We also had to get our own water and cutlery, which we would be fine with if we were told that this is how it worked. Vibe: It has a great vibe as its family orientated and it was buzzing. Nothing super wrong with this experience, I just feel like a few small things could be adjusted to give a really great experience.
Puhoi valley cafe and cheese have good selection of cheese and food menu. Big breakfast was lovely and soup were my fav. They have lovely outdoor garden with water fountain, i really love vibe of this place.
