Led by Te Whare Karioi, from the heart of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, each performer descends from the eponymous ancestor, Tuperiri.
These hour-long sessions will showcase taonga pūkaea, pūtatara, taiaha, poi & haka, with opportunities to participate & learn about the cultural significance behind each art form. This free, whānau-friendly event invites you to connect with Tāmaki Makaurau’s rich whakapapa through live performance & hands-on experiences.
Feel the pulse of the haka, hear the call of ancient instruments & move to the rhythm of poi.
