Chasing the Fox is New Zealand’s premier short-format golf event — where world-class golf meets unforgettable entertainment. Each December at Ryan Fox’s home course, six holes of high-energy Ambrose action transform the game into a festival of sport, music, and spectacle.
This year, Fox is bringing a friend from tour to take on a one-of-a-kind field featuring top sporting teams, pro golfers, YouTube stars, and more. Every team competes not just for bragging rights, but for prizemoney to support their chosen charity.
The format is simple but thrilling: professional golfers play as pairs, while celebrity teams get the advantage of three players. It’s fast, unpredictable stroke play with no handicaps — lowest score wins. And if it’s tied, the drama builds to a playoff shootout on the final hole.
Fans don’t just watch — they’re part of the action. Walk the fairways alongside the players, soak in the atmosphere, and experience every shot up close. It’s golf like you’ve never seen it before.
And when play reaches the legendary Party Hole, the energy hits another level — with world-renowned DJ Cyril performing live as the sun sets. From great food and drinks to live entertainment and interactive fan zones, Chasing the Fox is more than a golf event - it’s a sports entertainment festival that captures the excitement of summer in one incredible day.
Getting there Te huarahi ki reira
Chasing the Fox is held at Royal Auckland & Grange Golf Club in South Auckland — just a short trip from the city. By Train: Take the Southern Line from Central Auckland to Middlemore Station. The course is an easy 10-minute walk from the station entrance. By Car or Taxi: It’s around a 20-minute drive from Central Auckland, but we recommend getting in early to beat the traffic and soak up the atmosphere before play begins.
Local tip He tīwhiri mō te rohe
