Update: Mon 22 Apr:
We were sad to hear that Sir Andrew Davis, the conductor for this concert, passed away on 20 April at the age of 80. The musicians and staff of Auckland Philharmonia are very disappointted that we will not have the opportunity to make music with this titan of the classical music world.
There will obviously be changes to this concert, so please bear with us while we work through this. We will communicate directly with ticket-holders once we have updated information.

_____________________________________________________________________
Vaughan Williams was a composer whose soul was ablaze with glory, pity and anger. His ballet based on the engravings of William Blake is radiant and incandescent and life-affirming, and one of his very greatest works.
The world’s greatest living exponent of Vaughan Williams’ music, Sir Andrew Davis, is one of the most distinguished conductors of our time, and this promises to be a performance to remember.
The concert opens with two pieces by Beethoven at his most heroic and dramatic, with the outstanding pianist Ingrid Fliter making a welcome return.
