In 2025, the New Zealand International Conference Centre (NZICC) will open its doors, taking the title of the largest conference, exhibition, and entertainment space in the country.
Designed by event industry experts, the dramatic new venue will cover 35,200 square metres gross floor space, including over 6,500 square metres of hall space, 2,700 square metres of meeting space, and a divisible 2,850-seat theatre. To make transitioning between functions easier than ever, the NZICC will feature an airbridge to seamlessly connect you to over 1,000 hotel rooms and over ten top restaurants. A dedicated team will serve locally-sourced, farm-to-table cuisine for catered events.
The glazed facade will be adorned with two of the largest pieces of public art in the country. The brainchildren of acclaimed New Zealand artists Sara Hughes and Peata Larkin, the piece will create layered, parallel dimensions: inside, the sleek interior; between, images of native bush and geometric patterns inspired by traditional Māori weaving; and outside, the bustle of city streets. The piece will no doubt be a source of inspiration for the bold minds that visit, as will the entire centre. It’s set to be a innovation hub that will change the way we work, stay, and play.
