Check out the six-and-a-half metre high mural decorating the front of the Newmarket Train Station; Spot the giant boy walking in Potters Park; and admire colorful cloud-like sculptures that light up at night in New Lynn. There is so much public artwork to discover around Auckland.
Nothing is more calming and captivating than seeing a gorgeous waterfall. Fortunately for us, there are several magnificent waterfalls around Auckland. From a 30 metres waterfall in the suburb of Clevedon (Hunua Falls) to the highest waterfall in the Auckland Region, Waitakere Falls. Prepare your camera to snap some amazing pictures!
Cycling is a great way to experience the beauty of Auckland. With urban cycleways, scenic waterfront routes and off-road trails, riders of all ages and abilities can enjoy what Auckland has to offer. You are bond to find sweeping views and stunning landscapes around every corner.
If you are looking for an indoor activity, look no further! Auckland is home to splendid galleries and museums which offer free entry for New Zealand visitors. Head to Pah Homestead to see the historic home and contemporary art collection. Get an insight into New Zealand’s history at Auckland Museum or explore the impressive collection of artworks at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
Check out the Victorian-style greenhouses of the Domain Wintergardens and discover rare and spectacular plants, or head to Auckland Botanic Gardens and roam through 156 acres of land, including 10 hectares of native forest – both are incredible and to be added to your must-do list.
Visit Manukau Heads Lighthouse situated in the Awhitu Peninsula. The lighthouse is one of very few open to the public in New Zealand, and the views are breathtaking! Spend more time there by exploring the nearby regional park and stunning beaches. There is plenty to see and discover. (Free admission but small donation appreciated).

Getting out and about in Auckland is easy and there are so many different landscapes to enjoy and discover. From hiking up to the summit of Rangitoto Island to walking along Tāmaki Drive there are many ways to appreciate Auckland’s amazing harbour views.

Check out the live jazz music every Thursday at Wynyard Grill; the popular Friday night with Beat Council at Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen; live music at the Zookeeper's Son every Friday and Saturday night; and the Jukebox Live Thursday at Lula Inn (you request a song, and the band plays it live). There are so many places where you can get your dancing shoes on in Auckland!

Vector Lights brings the harbour to life for special events throughout the year such as Matariki Festival, Elemental AKL, Auckland Diwali Festival, Anzac Day, New Year’s Eve and more. There are many places around Auckland to catch the display from, including Westhaven Marina, Little Shoal Bay, Maungawhau Mt Eden, Takurunga Mt Victoria, Bayswater Marina and more.
