About the film
The Second Interrogation (2023) explores systems of power, censorship and psychological control in contemporary China. Staged as an intense encounter between an artist and a cultural censor, the film unfolds through dialogue, repetition and role reversal, gradually blurring the boundaries between authority and resistance. Drawing on historical reference points and lived experience, the work examines how ideology operates through language, surveillance and self-regulation, while asking urgent questions about the role of art today.
Please note the film is in Mandarin Chinese with English subtitles. The kōrero with H E Wilco and Meijing He will be in English.
