Following his hugely loved Aotearoa visit in early 2025, LA-based Puerto Rican dub powerhouse Pachyman returns this summer with his brilliant new album Another Place in tow.
Since we last saw him, Pachy has pushed his signature dub sound into stranger, darker and more exhilarating territory. Another Place is being hailed as his “most daring project to date”, blending deep, hypnotic reggae rhythms with post-punk attitude, lush layers, improvisation and moments of raw, vulnerable songwriting.
PopMatters put it perfectly: “What Pachyman is doing is too fresh to ignore, crossing enough lines that even the most cynical reggae skeptic will find plenty to enjoy here.”
From the warm, meditative grooves of “Calor Ahora” to the Slits-inspired “False Moves”, Another Place finds Pachyman stretching the possibilities of dub without ever losing sight of what makes the music so irresistible — the bass, the rhythm, the repetition and the sheer physicality of it all.
Now he’s bringing it back to Aotearoa for another run of summer shows.
