The Taite Music Prize 2026 returns to Auckland for a night celebrating the best of New Zealand’s independent music.
Held at the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) on Wednesday 29 April, this annual event brings together artists, industry and fans to recognise outstanding local talent. Presented by Independent Music New Zealand (IMNZ), the evening highlights creativity and excellence across the music scene.
Five awards will be presented, including the prestigious Taite Music Prize, alongside honours for debut artists, classic records, independent spirit and music journalism.
A key date on Auckland’s music calendar, the Taite Music Prize offers a chance to experience the energy and diversity of Aotearoa’s independent music community.

NZICC is on Hobson Street in the city centre, only a 15-minute walk from Waitematā station. If you’re driving, you'll find plenty of paid parking at SkyCity, the Civic Car Park or Victoria Street Car Park.
