Comans Track

Comans Track takes walkers beyond the Mercer Bay Loop and deeper into Auckland’s west coast landscape.

Starting near Log Race Road, the track descends through regenerating coastal forest towards Karekare Beach, with views across the Tasman Sea and the rugged Waitākere coastline. It is a more demanding walk, especially on the climb back, so allow enough time, wear suitable footwear and check conditions before heading out.

This is a track for visitors who want more than a lookout stop. It connects forest, ridgeline and shoreline in one clear journey, offering a slower, more grounded way to experience the wild west.
