Irene Dragon is an Auckland-based pop-up bringing authentic Malaysian street food to markets across the city.
Founded by Sharlini Thevishri, the concept honours her grandmother, Irene Dragon, whose recipes and techniques were passed down in Kuala Lumpur. Today, those same flavours are recreated from scratch in Aotearoa, with a fully plant-based approach that stays true to traditional cooking methods.
With no fixed location, Irene Dragon appears at markets such as Oratia Farmers Market, Kumeū and Catalina Bay, offering a rotating menu of dishes like mee goreng, rendang, curry puffs and spring rolls. Expect bold, spice-driven flavours and small-batch cooking rooted in heritage.
Part of Auckland’s growing market scene, Irene Dragon is best experienced by following their next pop-up—each visit offering a taste of Malaysian food culture shaped by family, memory and craft.
