About the Unity Pitch

Uniting under football

The FIFA Women’s World CupTM brings together so many diverse people and cultures. It is a symbol of unity and the progressiveness the beautiful game represents in culture today.

In July 2022 to mark ‘One year to go’, FIFA unveiled their own modern representation of the game with a vibrant and unique multi-coloured football pitch, inspired by their brand livery and all those nations that it represents - to be gifted to the host countries.

This pitch is a patchwork of the FIFA brand colours and design system, reflecting the local cultures and the coming together of 32 participating nations, measuring 15m x 25m.

Using vibrant colours of astro-turf to create one of the most contemporary pitches and putting the rich culture and attitude of the tournament on display for the world to see.

Available across four days for local communities and clubs in each Host City to use, the first Unity Pitch in New Zealand will open in Auckland / Tāmaki Makaurau 19-22 January 2023. Following the launch, the Unity Pitch will then tour the Host Cities of Hamilton / Kirikiriroa, Dunedin /Ōtepoti and Wellington / Te Whanganui-a-Tara in the lead up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. Activities across the Pitch will reflect the passion and vibrancy of each Host City.
