Join us in the heart of Auckland with Christmas in Aotea Square, a free programme of festive experiences for tamariki, whānau and visitors throughout December.
From giant interactive installations and creative family activities, to an outdoor movie and a sing-along with fellow Aucklanders, Aotea Square will come alive with moments of joy, connection and discovery.
Swing beneath the joyful sounds of Swinging Bells,a playful installation where giant bells come alive with light and sound. Share a meal and connect with your community at Everybody Eats at Christmas, a special gathering where everyone is welcome at the table. Settle in under the stars for a free outdoor screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas, get hands-on with festive craft activities, or join Battle Chorus Xmas and become part of a joyful mass singalong in the heart of the city. While you’re there, stroll down Queen Street to discover festive installations and dazzling Christmas lights.

Arrive early and explore the wider Aotea Arts Quarter. The square is surrounded by theatres, galleries, cafés and restaurants, making it easy to pair an event with a meal or another city-centre experience.
Getting there

Aotea Square is in the heart of the city centre on Queen Street. Te Waihorotiu Station is around a 2-minute walk away, while Waitematā Station is around a 15-minute walk down Queen Street.
