It’s always a huge pleasure to welcome back to Auckland the superlative violinist James Ehnes, joining us with Mozart’s sparkling concerto.
This is preceded by another piece of Mozartian effervescence, which its composer said should be played ‘very fiery’ and ‘as fast as possible’.
Then one of the finest symphonies in the French tradition. Chausson’s only excursion into the form covers a dramatic range of emotions, from its exuberant first movement to its entreating close.

Auckland Town Hall sits on Queen Street opposite Aotea Square. Te Waihorotiu Station is around a 2-minute walk away, while Waitematā Station and the ferry terminal are around a 17–20 minute walk down Queen Street. Frequent bus services stop nearby, and The Civic Car Park provides convenient parking close to the venue.
