With more than 500,000 members across over 190 countries and territories, IEEE plays a pivotal role in advancing innovation, developing international technology standards, publishing world-leading research, and connecting academia, industry and government.
Mary Ellen Randall has built her career around innovation, leadership and humanitarian technology. She founded the IEEE MOVE (Mobile Outreach using Volunteer Engagement) programme in 2016, an initiative that deploys volunteer engineers and specialised mobile units to provide emergency communications, power and technology support following natural disasters, while also delivering STEM outreach in communities throughout the year. Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2026, IEEE MOVE has assisted more than one million survivors and first responders, exemplifying IEEE's mission of Advancing Technology for Humanity.
