Returning from Australia, emerging concert pianist Liam Wooding performs his first public recital in Auckland at the Concert Chamber. This contrasting program begins with a Prelude and Fugue by JS Bach from Book 2 in Ab major—a piece that radiates graceful beauty—followed by Haydn’s Variations in F minor. Expect playfulness and passion in this mini-drama as you witness a battle between major and minor (or good and evil). John Psathas’ seminal work Waiting for the Aeroplane builds anticipation, setting the stage for Franz Liszt’s Sonata in B minor—a monumental tour de force.
