Based in Panmure and formed in 1864, The Royal NZ Artillery Band is the oldest military band in New Zealand and was part of the New Zealand Defence Force until the Reserve Bands were disestablished in 2012. However, it has battled on as a volunteer band, re-affiliated to 16^th Field Regiment RNZ Artillery, and is happily in good shape, performing a very busy and varied schedule each year throughout Greater Auckland and beyond.

Auckland Live Morning Melodies is regarded as one of their major annual engagements, where they play a popular and entertaining programme, ranging from military and light classical to musicals and showbiz.
