90% of our butterflies and moths are found nowhere else! We have recently-arrived monarchs, ancient gold-flecked moths, butterflies that flash from purple to orange, and a lime-green species said to bring messages from the spirit realm. But where do they live, how did they get here and what do they do when we aren't looking?
Come meet bestselling author of Fungi of Aotearoa, Liv Sisson, to learn about her new book: Butterflies and Moths of Aotearoa. This title explores the winged wonders you can find in your own backyard, what they have meant to us since our earliest times, and features images provided by Auckland Museum. At this event, Auckland Museum's Curator of Entomology, Leilani Walker will interview Liv onstage about this book, these incredible creatures and how the Museum and the taonga it safeguards became involved along the way. Afterwards, you can meet more of our Entomology team and view some of the most delicate and beautiful specimens from the collections.
Both of Liv's works will be available for purchase at this event, with Liv there to sign your copy.
