Established over one hundred years ago in 1911, Auckland Town Hall is a long-standing icon of the city’s social, political and cultural life.
Join our knowledgeable guides for an intimate tour that invites you to step back in time and discover the colourful history of a venue that has welcomed some of the biggest names in music across its original kauri floors to perform in the Great Hall, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and Sir Elton John.
You’ll learn the fascinating history of this prominent landmark in neo-Baroque style, from its inception and design in the 1900s to its incredible restoration in the 1990s. Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra are in residence at the Auckland Town Hall, which is thought to have some of the finest acoustics in the world, as well as being home to the largest musical instrument in Aotearoa New Zealand, an incredible 110-year-old pipe organ.
