Matchbox brings a fresh late-night bar and dining experience to Ponsonby Road, taking over the former Deadshot space at 45 Ponsonby Road.
Led by Kamal Haggerty and Alejandro Vasquez, the bar pairs creative cocktails with a compact food menu designed to run late into the night. Expect tacos, croquettes, guacamole and other shareable plates alongside drinks built around agave, seasonal ingredients, house ferments and playful techniques.
With its intimate setting, easy-going atmosphere and kitchen open until late, Matchbox works just as well for a drink as it does for a full evening of food and cocktails.
