Bios
Penny Ashton:
Penny Ashton has been touring the world for over 20 years, and in that time has performed over 1000 solo shows. She has sold out from Edinburgh to Edmonton to Mosgiel, and has represented NZ in Theatresports and performed Slam Poetry at The Glastonbury Festival.
Her solo literary musicals; Promise and Promiscuity, Olive Copperbottom and The Tempestuous have gathered sparkling reviews and happy fans as they go and her recent mainstage adaptation of Sense and Sensibility was a rollicking success at both Circa and The Court Theatre.
Penny is also a voice over artist, social commentator (including on RNZ’s The Panel), Wedding Celebrant, menopause podcaster with Showy Ovaries, and all round jazz hand enthusiast.
Ben Zolno:
Ben has been a performer for 30 years, starting with improv in Chicago with training at The Second City, as well as training and performing at Improv Olympic (now iO). He now teaches in Wellington, Auckland, Australia and in the United States, and performs with some of the most wonderful players around the world, on stage, film, and television.
He founded Improv Connection in 2018, and has taught several hundred students his Meisner-inspired approach at his school Improv Connection, and with Miranda Harcourt’s Rāta Studios. Ben's passion lies in discovering the hidden genius of each player, and watching their discovery journeys unfold, both off and on stage.
