March of the Triceratops brings you face-to-face with one of the most iconic dinosaurs to ever walk the Earth. Featuring five recently excavated Triceratops skeletons from the only known herd ever discovered, this immersive exhibition invites visitors of all ages to step into a lost world and discover the science, scale, and wonder of these remarkable prehistoric giants.
The exhibition, developed and produced by the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in the Netherlands, brings together more than 1,200 bones and fossil fragments, offering a rare glimpse into how these huge plant-eating dinosaurs may have lived around 66 million years ago. You can get up close to the fossils, explore what their bones can tell us, and see how palaeontologists piece together the story of life at the end of the Dinosaur Age.
Alongside the fossil specimens, life-sized models, an animatronic baby Triceratops, soundscapes, animations, augmented reality, and hands-on interactives bring the herd to life. March of the Triceratops is a rare chance to encounter one of the world’s most recognisable dinosaurs.
This is the first time an exhibition its kind has been to Aotearoa New Zealand, and Auckland Museum is the exclusive Australasian venue.
