Founded in 1974 by Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, Squeeze are one of pop’s best-loved bands with a catalogue of sky-high classics such as ‘Up the Junction’, ‘Tempted’, ‘Cool for Cats’, ‘Another Nail in My Heart’ and ‘Labelled with Love’, whose live shows are legendary and, as The Guardian wrote, “pop perfection”.
Squeeze remain one of the most revered and distinctive music outfits in UK pop history. Led by the unparalleled songwriting duo Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford, their legacy spans over five decades of masterful songwriting, stellar live performance, and cultural impact; between 1978 and 1996 they had no fewer than 11 singles in the UK Top 40, with six in the Top 20. Many more of their songs have been woven into the very fabric of the British songwriting tradition – alongside those of The Beatles and The Kinks – influencing everyone from Lily Allen to The Killers.
Coming to New Zealand to mark 50+ years of Squeeze and celebrate the release of their new album, Trixies, will be Glenn Tilbrook, bassist Owen Biddle, percussionist Steve Smith, keyboardist Stephen Large, drummer Simon Hanson, guitarist Leon Tilbrook and backing vocalist Danica Dora.
