The Angels

Since their last New Zealand show in 2023, The Angels have been on the road celebrating the 50th anniversary of their NZ gold certified, debut hit ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ an unofficial Australian national anthem and compulsory singalong embedded in pub rock culture. 

Formed in Adelaide in 1974, The Angels were instrumental in turning Australian pub rock into a global live phenomenon. Extensive touring for years throughout Australia saw The Angels become the most talked about and exciting live band. Having toured with some of the biggest names in rock, including AC/DC, David Bowie and Meat Loaf, their no frills hard driving rock saw fans turn out in record numbers paving the way for countless bands to come.

No strangers to crossing the Tasman, The Angels have spent plenty of their career filling up the Aotearoa charts. Dark Room (1980), featuring No Secrets and Face the Day, reached the NZ Top 40, followed by Night Attack (1981), which peaked at No.14, and Howling (1986), which reached No.10. Liveline reached No.13, before Beyond Salvation became their biggest New Zealand album, peaking at No. 3 in 1990.

Their most recent release Ninety Nine (2024) - their first studio album in a decade, was released to high praise with The Australian calling it “a thrilling addition” to their classic catalogue and STACK Magazine declaring “The Angels still rage with the passion and intensity of a young rock band just starting out:”

Founding brothers John Brewster and Rick Brewster remain at the core of the band now, joined by John's sons Sam Brewster on bass, Tom Brewster on drums and Nick Norton on lead vocals.

With five decades worth of classic rock anthems, The Angels are bringing it all to Auckland for one night at The Powerstation.
