Celebrate Auckland’s birthday on the water at the 186th Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta – the world’s biggest one-day regatta and New Zealand's oldest sporting event.

On Monday 26 January 2026 the Waitematā comes alive with action: keelboats and centreboards racing across the harbour, tugboats roaring in their legendary showdown, dragon boats and waka ama sprinting under paddle power, and even radio-controlled yachts duelling in the marina.

It’s free to watch and family-friendly, with prime viewing spots along Westhaven, at RNZYS, Tamaki Drive and the North Shore. Pack a picnic, grab a coffee or watch from the water.
