Glenfern loop track is appropriate for both families and experienced trampers wanting a shorter, less strenuous walk in between hikes.
The walk takes you along a beautiful Aotea stream, through regenerating bush, before climbing 100m through remnant bush where you will have the chance to see expansive views of the Hauraki Gulf taking in Hauturu, the Hen and Chicks, and the mainland beyond.
There is often Kaka and black petrel nesting at Glenfern Sanctuary, as well as resident Pāteke in our purpose built pond. Another gem of the Glenfern Sanctuary is the Chevron skink, New Zealand's largest and rarest reptile. We welcome visitors to come and experience the wonders of the bird life while taking in the diversity of this protected bush.
