Auckland Council elected members and the public heard from business delegates who travelled with Mayor Goff as part of Auckland’s largest ever trade mission to the Tripartite Economic Summit in Guangzhou at the end of 2017. Participants shared their support for the mission which they described as a “well-oiled machine”. Others highlighted the status afforded to them of travelling as part of the Mayoral delegation as invaluable. On average each delegate walked away with 6 business leads as a result of the mission.

Following the summit, delegates told us that during the next three years they expect the connections they made in Guangzhou to result in an average increase of $4.3m in sales, and five further staff for growth into China; and an average of $550,000 in sales and two staff for the US market.

So far, the connections made by Auckland businesses through ATEED’s three-year Tripartite programme have delivered tens of millions in dollars of deals into Auckland-based businesses.

In the February edition of Air New Zealand’s Koru inflight magazine, BNZ featured a five-page spread on the Tripartite mission and highlighted a number of its customers’ experiences. BNZ Managing Partner Auckland CBD and North West, Brandon Jackson talks about the visit in an insightful Q&A.
